Turner joins Dallas Historical Society higher-ed panel Oct. 28, 2012

Dallas Historical Society higher education panelSMU President R. Gerald Turner joins John E. Price, founding president of the University of North Texas at Dallas, for a panel discussion exploring the history of higher education in Dallas at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 in the Hall of State at Fair Park, 3939 Grand Avenue. The event is free and open to the public.

The two presidents will review the early days of the institutions they represent in a panel moderated by Pierce Allman (’54), chair of SMU’s Dedman College Executive Board. The panel is presented by the Dallas Historical Society.

The event will review the history of SMU, its connections to Dallas and its contributions to the economic and academic growth of the city. Additionally, the panelists will discuss the history of UNT-Dallas, including its development into a four-year university and its importance to the city as a state university.
