AARO season opens with Ice Cream Social June 25

Ice cream sundae stock photoSMU’s New Student Programs and Division of Enrollment Services kick off the 2010 orientation season with the traditional AARO Ice Cream Social, 2:30-3:30 p.m. June 25 in the Hughes-Trigg Student Center Commons.

The entire University community is invited to enjoy a free sundae (and priceless community bonding) as SMU prepares to welcome hundreds of new students through its Academic Advising, Registration and Orientation programs. Faculty and staff members can also meet the 2010 Orientation Leaders and watch a brief presentation at 3:30 p.m.

AARO’s annual ice cream social scheduled for June 26

SMU’s New Student Programs and Division of Enrollment Services invite the entire University community for ice cream and community bonding at the 3rd annual AARO Kick-Off Celebration in the Hughes-Trigg Student Center Commons, 1-2 p.m. June 26.

The event also kicks off the 2008-09 academic year as SMU welcome hundreds of new students through its Academic Advising, Registration and Orientation programs. The festivities will open with brief remarks by members of the SMU administration and AARO staff at 1:15 p.m.

Provost Ludden dishes at Ice Cream Social

New Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Paul Ludden (left, with President R. Gerald Turner) scooped frozen treats and mingled with the SMU community at the AARO Ice Cream Social June 28. “I lived in Wisconsin for 20 years, so dairy products make me feel right at home,” Ludden joked to the crowd of faculty, staff and students who turned out to meet him (and to enjoy the make-your-own sundae bar). Ludden will give the University’s 93rd Convocation address Aug. 22.
