SMU celebrates the 100th anniversary of the first day of classes on the Hilltop with nearly a full week of festivities and a Centennial Homecoming weekend full of special events.
Highlights will include:
- A Centennial Countdown Concert presented by the SMU Program Council on Wednesday, Sept. 23, featuring the Eli Young Band and special guest Cam, to count in the official start of SMU’s 100th birthday at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015. Tickets are on sale now.
- A Centennial worship service in Perkins Chapel, a commemoration ceremony in McFarlin Auditorium, a Centennial picnic on the Clements Hall lawn and the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 24.
- A special Stampede of Service, academic open houses, reunions and Pigskin Revue on Friday, Sept. 25.
- The Boulevard, SMU vs. James Madison, and the biggest ever Mustang Band halftime – featuring current members, band alumni and the world’s largest Diamond M on Saturday, Sept. 26. The first 5,000 people to enter Ford Stadium will receive a free Peruna bobblehead, and a fireworks extravaganza will immediately follow the SMU-James Madison game to cap the Centennial weekend.
