Mario J. Roman (they/them) serves as the Visiting Lecturer in Fashion History and Costume at Marist University and Director of Marist’s Fashion Archive. They completed their doctorate at University of the Arts London in 2021 where they researched celebrity, masculinities, and national identities as they are represented in American and British GQ magazines. Their current research explores the intersections of celebrity, fashion, and popular culture. Prior to their current role, they taught courses on a variety of topics such as consumer culture, cultural studies, fashion media, and visual research methods at London College of Fashion and in the School of Fashion at Parsons School of Design. Before pursuing their graduate degrees, Mario worked in the New York fashion industry as a print and embroidery designer, and colorist for companies such as Dana Buchman, Ann Taylor LOFT, and Naeem Khan.
