Department of Labor 2024 Student Opportunities

The Department of Labor (DOL) is announcing an opportunity to participate in their Student Volunteer Program that will afford them a chance to support DOL’s mission in Summer 2024.

The 10-week career-exploration program (June 10 – August 16, 2024) offers a unique platform for students to learn about DOL and apply their academic knowledge and experiences to in-person, real-world scenarios through student trainee positions.

Workshops will be conducted to provide students with information related to DOL student volunteer opportunities, how to write a Federal resume, and share insights on various Federal civil service careers.

This is a limited opportunity, so we encourage students to register to attend an upcoming workshop as soon as possible.  https://forms.office.com/g/3ax5y6Gmcc

Otherwise, students interested in applying directly to the announcement can do so by applying online, via usajobs.gov USAJOBS – Job Announcement.

Please contact the Student Programs Office at StudentPrograms@dol.gov if you have any questions.

BLS Opportunity

The Bureau of Labor Statistics is holding information sessions about the Student Monthly Labor Review (MLR) to introduce the program to undergraduate students. The Student MLR is a pilot program available under the MLR banner that is dedicated to publishing social science research by undergraduate students. The program provides an opportunity for students to refine their analytical abilities, receive comments from experienced professionals, develop their research conjectures for graduate study, gain professional experience, and produce new knowledge. Subjects that the Student MLR publishes include, but are not exclusive to, demographics, labor economics, prices, environment, community research, and social statistics. Check out the MLR factsheet for more details.

The two information sessions will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM ET and on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 5:00 PM ET. Note that both events will present the same information.
