College students are not known for turning out in great numbers at the polls on Election Day.
Dallas County Commissioner Elba GarcĂa wanted to change that.
So, this year, instead of the students going to the polling places, the polling places will come to them.
For two days, each of the seven main college campuses in the Dallas County Community College District will serve as a polling location for those who wish to vote ahead of the presidential election on Nov. 8.
Early voting started this week and runs through Nov. 4. Students at these college campuses, and at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and the University of Dallas in Irving, will be able to show up for class and also vote when they get there from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on specific days from Oct. 31 through Nov. 3, depending on the campus.
