Join the SMU community as the University marks its second annual Founders’ Day Weekend April 20-21, 2012, with a variety of events for alumni, parents and friends.
Held each year on the third Friday in April, Founders’ Day is an important part of the five-year Second Century Celebration, recognizing the centennials of SMU’s founding in 1911 and opening in 1915.

A significant focus of the weekend is Friday, April 20, with a historic, midday groundbreaking for the new Residential Commons Complex, to comprise five new residence halls and a new dining hall. This complex is the anchor of a new phase of development along the south side of campus near Mockingbird Lane.

Inside SMU offers stimulating classes by professors for alumni, parents and friends. That evening, President R. Gerald Turner will present the President’s Briefing, his annual report on the major events and achievements of the previous year and announcement of plans for future progress.
