The 2022 SMU Startup Launch Competition

 

On Friday, March 25th, 2022, nine competitors faced off in the 22nd annual SMU Cox Business Accelerator Program. Each competitor pitched their business idea to a crowd of venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and media relations teams. After much deliberation, six judges decided on the winning teams. Taking third place was Irewole Akande of City Health Tech – a tech company on a mission to build healthier communities. Katie Lewis of Borrow came in at second place for her app that creates a marketplace for borrowers and lenders.

The first-place winner of the SMU Startup Launch Competition was Seun Suberu of CollegePlus. CollegePlus is an app that helps prospective college students navigate their path to a college degree.

 

A Special Tribute to Felipe Mendoza, longtime supporter of entrepreneurship at SMU

 

SMU alumni and MBA Felipe Mendoza was actively engaged in entrepreneurship at SMU. His passion for mentoring young entrepreneurs was honored by awarding the first ever Felipe Mendoza Memorial Tech Startup Award. The inaugural winner of this award was Hunter Gore of Horizon’s Edge.
