The Black Alumni of SMU Scholarship is awarded each year to an ABS student or students who are excelling at SMU. The recipient(s) of the scholarship must meet the following criteria:
• Be at least a rising sophomore or higher, up to and including graduate students
• Be a member of Association of Black Students (ABS)
• Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.000 or higher
• Demonstrates financial need, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid
• Submits a completed application, including a personal essay
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. CT on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
The number of scholarships and amounts awarded will vary annually. This scholarship will be awarded to the recipient/s for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
Scholarship recipient/s will be notified in early February 2025. We will ask scholarship recipients to attend the Black Excellence Awards February 2025.
