PasselJeffrey Passel, Senior Demographer, Pew Research Center’s Hispanic Trends Project

Jeffrey Passel is a senior demographer at the Pew Research Center’s Hispanic Trends Project. He is a nationally known expert on immigration to the United States and the demography of racial and ethnic groups.
Passel formerly served as principal research associate at the Urban Institute’s Labor, Human Services and population Center. Passel has authored numerous studies on immigrant populations in America, focusing on such topics as undocumented immigration, the economic and fiscal impact of the foreign born, and the impact of welfare reform on immigrant populations. Passel regularly discusses project findings in print and broadcast media.

StanleyHarold Stanley, Associate Provost and Tower Center Senior Fellow, SMU

Professor Harold W. Stanley, Associate Provost at Southern Methodist University, holds the Geurin-Pettus Distinguished Chair in American Politics and Political Economy in the Department of Political Science in Dedman College at SMU. The focus of his research and teaching at SMU has been within American government—southern politics, Latino politics, and presidential elections. A Rhodes Scholar, Professor Stanley earned a Ph. D from Yale in 1981. Among his publications is Vital Statistics on American Politics 2013-2014 (CQ Press, 14th edition). Professor Stanley has testified often as an expert witness in federal court cases on voting rights and redistricting, serving on four occasions as the federal court’s own expert. Professor Stanley has been a member of the Executive Board for the John Goodwin Tower Center for Political Studies since 2003.
