Remembering Senator John McCain

Sen. John McCain at the SMU Tower Center Medal of Freedom Ceremony in 2006.

Senator John McCain served on the SMU Tower Center Honorary Board of Directors and he received the Tower Center Medal of Freedom in 2006. As a Center we mourn the loss of such a dedicated public servant. Here are a few words from our leadership:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of John McCain. America has lost a true patriot and Statesman. He served the country he loved with courage and fortitude, first in the US Navy and then in the US Congress; and he always put country above politics and party labels. We will miss him!”
-Jeanne Tower Cox
Tower Center Board Member

“Senator McCain was a zealous patriot and public servant. He loved his country and advanced the cause of freedom. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.”
-Dan Branch
Chairman of the Tower Center Board of Directors

“We mourn the passing of a giant of American politics, Senator John McCain.  A member of the Tower Center Honorary Board and recipient of the Medal of Freedom, Senator McCain epitomized a life of public service, never wavering in his support for the highest ideals of American democracy and his commitment to the security, prosperity and welfare of humanity.”
