College Access Programs

EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH 2016-2017

The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling, during the school day, to students and supports them as they graduate from high school, successfully transition to college, and pursue a college degree. Talent Search staff assist students, complete financial aid applications, and manage the college application processes. During each six weeks we will cover one of the five competencies during our workshops: Career Exploration, College Information, College Admissions, Financial Literacy, College Success Strategies

 

Talent Search Eligibility Requirements:

Talent Search is designed primarily for students who are low-income or who could be first generation college graduates. Program participants must meet eligibility requirements and will be selected through an application process. Specific program eligibility requirements:

  • 9th -12th grade high school student
  • Attend Conrad HS, Skyline HS, South Oak Cliff HS, Carter HS, or Lakeview Centennial HS
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Committed to program requirements
  • Interested or enrolled in either AP/Pre AP/Dual Credit courses
  • Highly motivated and display a strong desire to attend college

Great Hearts Academies

Great Hearts Academies is a network of thirty public, open-enrollment charter schools, offering a rigorous, classical, liberal arts education to more than 14,000 K-12 students in both Arizona and Texas.

For the 2015-16 school year, Great Hearts Academies hired 389 new teachers, and this year they are on pace for around 280, so they are always on the lookout for talented men and women who may be interested in joining their team.

AVID Tutors Needed

AVID Tutors Needed (**Work-Study Approved Site)

Volunteers or work-study eligible students needed to tutor AVID students during the school day on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Multiple shifts available. We can make our schedule work for you!

Part-Time Nanny Position

Qualifications:

  • Young woman (preferably a college student) with outgoing personality who likes children
  • Must have car

Duties include:

  1. Pick up 10-year-old girl from middle school (located near SMU)
  2. Serve a snack
  3. Supervise homework time

Time:

  • 4 to 6 pm
  • 2 days per week, 3 days per week (alternating weeks)
