The Fort Burgwin Library has two exhibit cases that have displayed exhibits such as commemorative Native American coins to micaceous pottery. This month one exhibit case displays the wooden carved santos ( statues of saints) and hand painted retablos (a religious painting done on a wood carving) from a local artist just down highway 518 from the Fort. Lydia Garcia is a life-long New Mexico resident. Her art reflects the Hispanic traditions of art, culture and religion of the remote Northern New Mexico rural atmosphere she lives in. Her art is a testimony of the depth and passion of her Catholic faith.
The second exhibit case in the Fort Burgwin Library holds pictures of artifacts found at the site of the original Cantonment hospital site when it was excavated in the 1950s.
