Stephany is a graduate student in SMU's counseling program. She was awarded a Maguire and Irby Family Foundation Public Service Fellowship for summer 2016 from the Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics and Public Responsibility at SMU. She spent the summer in Dallas volunteering with the North Texas Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

Mary Leah is a Ph.D. candidate studying religion and ethics. She was awarded a Maguire and Irby Family Foundation Public Service Fellowship for summer 2016 from the Cary M. She is spending the summer interning with Dallas Area Interfaith, a non-profit coalition of organizations that helps ordinary citizens to negotiate effectively with governments and private institutions to improve their lives.

First Weeks

Claire W. is a senior majoring in biology. She was awarded a Maguire and Irby Family Foundation Public Service Fellowship for summer 2016 from the Cary M. She is spending the summer volunteering at Dallas-based Bryan’s House, a non-profit organization that provides medically managed child care and support services, assisting with the organization’s social media reach as well as its early-childhood education program.
