Another wonderful day at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, studying “Israel: Jewish and Democratic” with Marcie Lenk, Donniel Hartman, Leon Weiner Dow and Ezra Korman of the SHI staff. Our afternoon included a walking tour of Jerusalem neighborhoods, followed by dinner at the Jerusalem Theater.
A highlight of this afternoon’s tour was time spent in the Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem. The partially open-air market boasts more than 250 vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, fish, meats and cheeses, among other goods.
This is our final night in Palestine-Israel, and we gathered in our hotel lobby this evening to exchange gifts (we were assigned finding gifts for no more than 10 shekels each) and to receive a blessing and prayer from our director, Robert Hunt, before we set off early tomorrow morning.
