Big success on a big night

Kelsey, SMU Fashion WeekAn update from Kelsey, public relations director for SMU Fashion Week, and a sophomore CCPA major, with a minor in fashion media:

The launch party at Tootsies was such a success! I didn’t have time to blog when I got there because I was so busy with all of the final preparations. I and other members of the executive team finished stuffing the Fashion Week survival gift bag, complete with customized Twist Bands, a Tootsies gift card, DIY hair feathers and so much more.

After we finished with the bags, we set up the greeting table with raffle entries and SMU FW T-shirts for sale. Later in the night, Grace picked from the wheel our raffle winners. There were six winners who received gift cards to Drybar Dallas, and two lucky winners received gift cards to Tootsies.

The party had delicious sweets by Pinkberry, amazing mocktinis available at upstairs and downstairs bars, and beats spinning downstairs.

SMU Fashion Week manicure station

A manicure station awaits opening-party visitors.

The biggest hit of the night was definitely the nails station! Girls circulated the lounge all night to get manicures in the hottest spring colors by Butter nail polish.

There was also a station for makeup and hair feathers. Guests enjoyed browsing the luxurious clothes at Tootsies; there were even a handful of purchases during the night.

The best part for me was learning from the guests how they heard about SMU Fashion Week, because that ties back to my role as PR director. It was great to hear people comment about seeing the promotional video on our website or enjoying the tweets from our Twitter handle.

The launch party tonight definitely set the right tone for the rest of the week. I can’t wait!

Tomorrow the day kicks off at 11 a.m. with a trunk show in the Owen Fine Arts Center Atrium, I hope to see all of you there.
