So many opportunities to learn and help

Hello all! Now that I have been spending more time with those at Our Friends’ Place, I thought I would take some time to blog! As I mentioned last week, everyone at Our Friends’ Place has been so kind. They all have been just as respectful of me as a volunteer, as they are to their regular employees, as well as the girls and young women who they are there to serve.

While volunteering, I have had the opportunity to display the counseling skills I have developed while working on my Master’s, as well as learn new skills. I am assisting Our Friends’ Place’s program director with case management duties. I am learning so much about the girls whom Our Friends’ Place helps. I am also learning more about the field of social work, counseling and education. I have had the great opportunity to assist in organizing information regarding donations. It is great to see those who wish to help organizations like Our Friends’ Place by donating their time and items that are needed.

I expect to be working more closely with the girls in the very near future. I am sure that I will learn more about the organization, myself, and the girls in the days to come. I will make sure to fill everyone in on all of the great experiences to come! Please feel free to comment and send any questions you may have regarding Our Friends’ Place.
Thanks so much!
