Preparing for the future

Hello all! I’m back with a short update.

I’m continuing to work with the staff at Our Friends’ Place, as well as working with the girls. I am enjoying my part in assisting this wonderful nonprofit organization on both sides of the spectrum. Working with the staff and assisting the treatment team have taught me a great deal about counseling, case management, and various types of therapies and interventions. On the other hand, working directly with the girls has taught me positive modeling skills.

Recently, I have been working with the Clinical Director and the treatment team. I have been very excited to learn how to write and organize treatment plans. This is something that I will be doing often in my future as a counselor and therapist. Our Friends’ Place has given me the opportunity to have some experience writing treatment plans so that I will be better prepared in the future!

I still have a few more days at Our Friends’ Place before my time is up, so I am looking forward to what time I have left. At the end of this week I will be heading to Taos to take a summer course in Counseling at the SMU-in-TAOS campus at Ft. Burgwin. I am very excited and looking forward to that experience, as well.

In the meantime, I will keep you updated during my final days at Our Friends’ Place.
