John S. Relton, founder and managing director of Dallas-based Strait Capital Company, has been selected as one of the Dallas Business Journal’s 2014  “40 Under 40” honorees and as a recipient of the Asian American Business Development Center’s 2014 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award. The Dallas Business Journal selects executives and entrepreneurs 39 years of age or younger who are leaders in business and community involvement for its award. The honorees were feted at a reception May 29 and featured in the May 30 issue of the business publication. He received the DBJ‘s Minority Business Leader Award in 2013. The Asian American Business Development Center honors outstanding leaders of a diverse range of Asian ethnicities who have built a successful business or who have distinguished themselves in their communities and worked to strengthen the economy and society. Award recipients will be honored at a gala in New York City June 19. Relton serves on the boards of Dallas Contemporary and The Arts Community Alliance (TACA). He earned a B.B.A. in accounting from SMU’s Cox School of Business in 2000 and a master’s degree in 2001 and serves on the Cox Accounting Alumni and Professional Advisory Board. He also supports numerous national and local philanthropies. Strait Capital Company provides private financial oversight and fund administration for private equity funds, hedge funds, family office, and asset managers and currently oversees in excess of $1.2 billion in assets. Strait Capital Company functions as a specialized chief financial officer, chief operations officer and compliance officer for clients ranging from startup funds to large institutional class investment managers and complex family offices.
