Charla Aldous ’85

Charla_AldousCharla Aldous recently shared her courtroom knowledge with students attending the National Trial College of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) at Harvard Law School. The Dallas litigator, the founder of Aldous Law Firm, was among this year’s legal practitioners teaching a small group of young lawyers the art of being a successful trial attorney. The intensely rigorous course is designed for those in their third or fourth year as trial lawyers on both sides of the bar and involves five days of instruction, student exercises, critiques and a mock jury trial. “It was exhilarating and rewarding to be part of this exhaustive program, which has so much to offer these young attorneys. Not only was I able to see growth in these students and their trial skills, I also made lifelong friends,” Aldous says. A graduate of SMU’s Dedman School of Law, she has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for more than a decade and twice has been honored by Best Lawyers as Dallas Lawyer of the Year for Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice litigation. An active member of ABOTA, Aldous is past president of the Dallas chapter and, in 2008, was chosen Trial Lawyer of the Year by the group’s Texas chapters.
