Offering Our Program to Your Employees Despite evidence that tobacco cessation programs can help reduce employers’ costs while improving workers’ health, only about half currently offer these programs. The CDC estimates that companies spend $3,856 per smoker per year in direct medical expenses and lost productivity resulting from premature death for people with smoking-related diseases. Adopting a smoking cessation program can increase productivity, incur lower medical costs, and improve overall health. Many organizations are now realizing the importance of curbing smoking in the workplace and are choosing to offer our study as part of their company’s wellness or benefits program, or are simply getting the word out to their employees about this opportunity. Below are a few different resources to help you advise your employees or coworkers about SMU’s Quit Smoking Study.
