The SMU community will celebrate the graduation of more than 870 SMU students Saturday, December 18, at Moody Coliseum.
Ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. with a student and faculty procession and are expected to last about two hours.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Paul W. Ludden will deliver the commencement address. As the University’s chief academic officer, he oversees all aspects of academic life and supervises SMU’s seven schools. Other speakers will include Ken S. Malcolmson ’74, Alumni Board chair; Jose Lage, professor of mechanical engineering; and Jake Torres, student body president.
“The activities that make up December Graduation Convocation express some of the best traditions of SMU,” says SMU President R. Gerald Turner.
Guests do not need tickets to attend the event, but seating is on a first-come basis. Doors at Moody Coliseum open at 8:30 a.m.; guests are asked to be seated by 9:45 a.m.
Graduates should arrive dressed in full regalia at the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports, where doors open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 9:40 a.m. More information for students.
