Edit title list display for multiple item records?

Can we edit the title list so that for items with multiple item records, the holdings/status statement says, “Multiple Volumes. Click title for details.”? For example, see Encyclopedia of applied ethics. [Submitted by Sarah Haight 8-10-2009 11:44]

Status information for reference books

status information for reference books = “no information available” is confusing to patrons and staff. Please use same status info as for circulating books which are not on loan= “not chceked out” [Submitted by Sandra Setnick Zucker 7/16/2009 12:16]

Some OPAC display location names missing from Law materials

Items with the location law, admin are displaying as “No location specified” in Libcat. They display as “Law 2-E” in PONI. (Law staff are working on adding these location names–they were not important in the old interface but are necessary in the new one–Toni Nolen) [Submitted by Sarah Haight 7/13/2009 15:20]

Permanent locations set in item records sometimes not displaying accurately

The OPAC team has documented a problem in which permanent locations set in item records do not display correctly in the new catalog. If there are one or two items with the same permanent location, which is different than the location in the holdings record, the location from the holdings record displays, instead of the location from the item record. Part of this issue is a known bug that has been submitted to Ex Libris. The OPAC team will work to submit the larger problem to Ex Libris and request a fix.

Impact on SMU libraries: So far, the only cases in which this has caused an inaccurate display were in CUL Periodicals and at the Hamon library. The CUL Periodicals issue was caused by a record being set up incorrectly in cataloging, and when this was fixed, the display worked correctly. The Hamon display problem is related to some maintenance they performed on their records, and Hamon staff will decide how they want to proceed on this issue. 866 coding causes holdings to display twice

When the holdings record on periodicals is coded 866 _ 0 |8 0, the holding displays twice in the catalog. Examples: Denning law journal; Publishers weekly (microfiche holding) [Submitted by Sarah Haight 7/13/2009 15:18]

Add a clear button?

It is not apparent how to clear a search. Could a clear button be added? [Submitted by Beverly Mitchell 7/10/2009 11:06]

Advanced search and navigation

After doing an advanced search, there does not appear to be a direct way to get back to the advanced search page without using the back button. Also, I find the advanced search to be the most useful since it gives me the most searching options without having to select individual tabs, eg. author search, for each search. Wants full record export available

If I try to export records in the the Library catalog advanced, I can only do so in the EndNote citation, not in the Full version. Also when I email my results, it is in the EndNote citation, not the full, robust version.

I don’t want the EndNote citation, I want the whole enchilada. Can you make this better? [Submitted by Joan Gosnell 7/8/2009 17:17]

Left anchored title search is not indexing and retrieving the entire 245 field?

I think the left anchored title search is not indexing and retrieving the entire 245 field. When I ran a search on: “Journal of the Honorable House of Representatives of the colony of the Massachusetts-Bay in New-England, begun and held at the Meeting-House in Watertown, in the county of Middlesex, on Wednesday the nineteenth day”, it retrieved both this and the following title: “Journal of the Honorable House of Representatives, of the colony of the Massachusetts-Bay, in New-England. Begun and held at the Meeting-House in Watertown, in the county of Middlesex, on Wednesday, the twenty-ninth day of May”, despite the difference in the title. Is this a known issue or a new bug? I can investigate further if needed. [Submitted by Sarah Haight 6/29/2009 14:36]
