Caitlin (Caitie) Shaughnessy

292526bCaitlin (Caitie) Shaughnessy, SMU Class of 2014, is a Communication Studies major with Psychology and English minors. This combined skill set allows Caitie to thoroughly research and analyze client needs before supplying an informed recommendation while developing valuable materials for client use.

Caitie is a true team player and easily adapts into any working environment. It is this quality that has allowed her to work with a range of clients and consultants. She is determined when it comes to surpassing client expectations, and will work diligently with teammates until all goals are met.

Her natural leadership abilities have been utilized on campus as Caitie served as Vice President of SMU’s Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter, a member on the SMU Honor Council and sat on the campus programming board, Student Foundation. She has also been able to assert her skills in a professional setting. Past internships have included: a consultancy position at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, a client relations and business development role at Pinebridge Investments in London, England, a research assistant and PR internship with CNN, a marketing and new business role at Omnicom in New York City and a PR and event internship at Jackson & Flagg PR in Dallas, Texas.

After graduation, Caitie plans to move to New York City and pursue a career in financial communication. She is excited by the impact that intentional, relevant and meaningful communication can have on a company’s overall value. Originally from Connecticut, Caitie is the youngest of four and all her siblings now also live in New York City. While she is looking forward to living closer to family and friends, she will of course miss Dallas, which became her home for the past four years and all of the memories made at SMU.

Outside of SMU, Caitie has a passion for fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. Caitie is an avid runner, lover of pilates and yoga, and a proud pescetarian. She also has a fifth sibling, her chocolate lab, Sancho. Her family will also soon be adopting another chocolate lab, whom Caitie is excited to welcome to the family.
