As part of a new fellowship program between SMU and École Nationale Supérieure d’Art (ENSA) in Dijon, France, French artist and student Hugo Capron is exhibiting his work at SMU’s Pollock Gallery from August 10-29.

Mariana von Hartenthal has been accepted to participate in the Photographic Process Identification Workshop at the Image Permanence Institute, in Rochester, NY. This is a five-day workshop, supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, that will take place in June. She has also been selected to attend the Comité International de l’Histoire de l’Art (CIHA) Conference in Rio de Janeiro this August, along with nineteen other Ph.D. candidates. How MFA Alum Brian R. Jones’ Work Found Its Way To Comedian Marc Maron

Comedian Marc Maron’s podcast, WTF with Marc Maron, has grown like wildfire in the past year. Past guests have included Louis C.K., Robin Williams, Vince Gilligan, and very recently– President Barack Obama.  SMU Meadows checked in with artist Brian R. Jones, who earned an M.F.A. from our Division of Art, to dispatch the story of how his ceramic mugs landed with the popular comedian. Jones’ work has been featured on Maron’s show and podcast steadily since 2011.

For Colossal, an explosive play that debuted Dallas Theater Center in 2015, the Wyly Theatre was transformed into a football field. The story followed a University of Texas football player, who struggles with love, sexuality and strength in the wake of a game-ending spinal injury.
