My name is Maria Esparza. I am 45 years old. I have a husband, children and grandkids. My parents were from Mexico and I am the only one in several generations to have a
graduate degree with the support of my family. The main reason I became a bilingual teacher was because I saw the need of knowing Spanish and English while growing up. One of my colleagues told me about the MBE program at SMU when she saw the commitment I had for the students and their parents. When I graduated, I inspired two colleagues to enroll in the MBE.
