Classroom and AV Support Team Enhances Events and Classrooms

The Office of Information Technology’s Classroom and AV Support Team is eager to serve the needs of our campus community. The individuals are trained and certified in designing and programming AV solutions for the classroom, as well as possess years of experience with live events. The team oversaw over 4,000 requests for AV support at events last school year and performed over 40 classroom updates in the summer alone, with another 28 to be completed this coming summer. This is the team that is behind the scenes making the magic happen. Continue reading Classroom and AV Support Team Enhances Events and Classrooms

New AV Event Request Process

AV Request FormThe AV team is responsible for supporting classroom equipment as well as campus events.  As each event has unique requirements, a new request form has been developed to help streamline these requests.  The form allows you to select from various equipment packages depending on your venue and your needs.  Once submitted, a ticket will be generated for our AV team.

In order to ensure your event is staffed and set up as desired, please submit the request form at least 5 business days in advance.  To access the form, visit smu.edu/oit/services/avservices Continue reading New AV Event Request Process

New Embedded Support Model Brings Improved Support to Campus

OIT Support ZonesAs part of the OE2C initiative this past year, OIT has been working to increase the quality and efficiency of customer service. One method adopted was to make support staff more accessible to the University community. A new structure has been put in place by the Customer Support division that places field support and AV/Event representatives into assigned zones which include several buildings that each representative will support. These representatives will be the first point of contact for desk-side support and emergency classroom/conference room support in their respective area. They will also be cross-trained in order to assist other zones when needed for larger projects or issues.

The following individuals are currently serving in an embedded zone:
