New Dedman Law and Cox Websites Revolutionize SMU’s Web Presence

Cox School of Business HomepageIn August and September 2018, the Dedman School of Law and the Cox School of Business both revealed their new websites to the public.  After many months of planning, programming, and design, these sites present a new vision for the future of SMU’s entire presence on the web.

The law school’s new site reveal on August 9 introduced some features that will become standard on other SMU sites in the near future. One pivotal new tool is the Experience Editor, which enables content editors to make changes to their site without having to deal with coding or complex backend interfaces like the existing Content Editor. Dedman School of Law HomepageThere has also been the introduction of the Experience Platform that provides powerful visitor engagement and marketing tools to optimize the site’s informational and promotional effectiveness. These new tools are just a portion of Sitecore CMS’ new “Helix” architecture, which is a more flexible and user-friendly set of tools and practices for designing more engaging sites.

As for the new Cox website, the September premiere was the culmination of almost two years of design and engineering work.

“Cox’s new website is SMU’s most complex and ambitious digital marketing site.” Says Aren Cambre, Director of Web Application Services for OIT. “Consisting of 22 templates and a radical new architecture, it is a great match for our Sitecore system and Sitecore’s Helix architecture. Along with the new Dedman Law site, this new Cox site sets a bold vision for the future of websites at SMU.”

These two groundbreaking sites are just the beginning of the improvements you can expect on websites throughout the University in the coming months.
