Legendary Free Audio Editor Gets an Upgrade: Audacity 2.2.0

Audacity LogoIf you’ve ever needed to find a program to edit audio on your computer, you’ve probably stumbled on Audacity in your Internet travels. Audacity has been around for almost twenty years, and the team that maintains the software just announced a significant upgrade!

What’s New?

Audacity 2.2.0 is the first upgrade to this widely-popular audio editing platform in a while, and it’s turned out to be worth the wait. Newer versions of macOS are now fully supported, and new themes allow you to tweak the look and feel of the software. These new themes include a high-contrast theme that can be helpful for vision-impaired users.

On the more technical side of things, Windows users of Audacity can now enjoy easier import and playback of MIDI files. Menus have been given a refresh, too, with simplification across the board while not losing any features. The refreshed menus also allow for better low-vision and limited-mobility access, with additional keyboard shortcuts now available.

How Do I Get It?

There are lots of websites that offer downloads of Audacity, but the safest place to get it is from the project’s official website. Audacity has always been an excellent piece of software to have handy for quick audio edits or even more advanced audio production, and this new version makes it even more useful!
