Electrical Service Shutdown to Impact Networking on July 21, 2017SMU Buildings and Roads has circulated a notice that electrical service will be shut off to several campus buildings as a part of campus construction activities. The shutdown will begin on Friday, July 21, 2017, starting approximately at 07 p.m. and is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Offices in these buildings should remember to shut down computers and printers before the electrical service being shut off.

The original notice from SMU Buildings and Roads is below:

As a part of campus construction activities, electrical service will be shut off to the following campus buildings the evening of Friday, July 21, starting at 7 p.m.

Site lighting in these areas also will be affected and supplemental lighting will be provided as necessary.

This work has been closely coordinated with facilities managers to minimize the disruption.

  • Heroy Hall
  • Fondren Science Building
  • Dedman Life Sciences Building
  • Fondren Library
  • Fondren SIC
  • Annette Caldwell Simmons Hall
  • Harold Clark Simmons Hall
  • Underwood Law Library
  • Perkins Administration Building
  • Florence Hall
  • McFarlin Auditorium
  • Umphrey Lee Center
  • Clements Hall
  • Hughes Trigg Student Center
  • Hyer Hall

This shutdown will also impact network connections in the buildings. If you continue to have networking issues 30 minutes after the power has been restored, please contact the IT Help Desk at 214-768-HELP.
