Electrical Service Shutdown to Impact Networking on June 24 and 28

Buildings impacted by electrical service shutdownSMU Buildings and Roads has circulated a notice that electrical service will be shut off to several campus buildings as a part of campus construction activities. The shutdown will begin on Saturday, June 24, 2017, starting approximately at 1 a.m. and is expected to be completed by 5 a.m. This effort will be continued on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, starting at 1 a.m. Offices in these buildings should remember to shut down computers and printers before the electrical service being shut off.

Because of construction activities, electrical power to the following buildings will be shut off from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. June 24 and again June 28:

  • Loyd Commons
  • Ware Commons
  • Crum Commons
  • Armstrong Commons
  • Kathy Crow Commons
  • Arnold Dining
  • Mustang Garage
  • Crum Lacrosse
  • Tennis Center
  • University Data Center

The University apologizes for the inconvenience.

This shutdown will also impact network connections in the buildings. If you continue to have networking issues 30 minutes after the power has been restored, please contact the IT Help Desk at 214-768-HELP.
