A Weekend that Started Early

Hey y’all! It’s been a busy few weeks around campus but academically
things are slowing down a little for the second-half-of-first-semester
slump! This last weekend was a lot of fun and actually “started” on
Thursday for me! Thursday night, girls from my sorority (Eta Sig – the
Christian sorority on campus) and guys from our brother fraternity
(BYX – the Christian frat on campus) drove out to Billy Bob’s in Fort
Worth for some good honky tonkin’! Hours of dancing, country music and
a few hours of sleep later it was Friday morning – time for classes
and a quiz :( That night consisted of Big Sis/Lil Sis reveal for Eta
Sig where each new member receives a “big sister.” (The week leading
up to reveal is full of presents, yay! Our reveal is early in the year
because we do fall recruitment whereas most fraternities and sororities do
formal spring recruitment). After reveal, I went to see “Law Abiding Citizen”
at Northpark mall with my sis (sketchy movie by the way). Sounds like
a full weekend already, right? The next morning, bright and early, we
had our Eta Sig car wash fundraiser at Sonic. After hours of drying
cars with wet towels, there was a short break before driving back to
Fort Worth for Boo at the Zoo! Little kids running around in costumes,
candy and animals rounded out a full Saturday. A typical “college
schedule” has Sunday as the day to catch up on everything – I had a
little of that, but I stress a little! I slept in on Sunday, did
some work and finished just in time for our Best Buddies Halloween
party. We invited all of our buddies to campus for a fun evening of
pumpkin decorating and musical tombstones! It was a fun, very busy
weekend and a great reminder of why I love the SMU community!

My weekend was filled to the brim and here I am, in a week with not a
lot to do… so far! Knock on wood! Hope y’all have a great weekend
and Halloween! Pony Up!
