Save the date to celebrate: SMU’s 2017 President’s Picnic is Wednesday, May 24

President's Picnic 2017The SMU Staff Association (SMUSA) and President R. Gerald Turner invite all University staff members to the 2017 Staff Appreciation Day and President’s Picnic. The post-Commencement celebration takes place 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 on the Clements Hall South Lawn.

This year’s edition of the annual event features food, games, popcorn, and a photo booth.

All SMU staff members with 25 years or more of service are asked to stop by the Staff Association table.

presidents-picnic-2016The SMU Staff Association and President R. Gerald Turner invite all University staff members to the 2016 Staff Appreciation Day and President’s Picnic. The post-Commencement celebration takes place 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 on the Clements Hall south lawn.

This year’s event will include the announcement of the 2015 President’s Staff Recognition Award winners, who were originally scheduled to be named at the postponed Staff Association Assembly and Recognition Ceremony in March.

SMUSA Centennial Staff Photo rescheduled for June 4, 2015

SMU Staff Association Centennial Photo invitationThe SMU Staff Association (SMUSA) has rescheduled its Centennial Staff Photo for Thursday, June 4, 2015.

Registered Centennial Staff Photo participants may assemble and pick up their T-shirts on the Main Quad beginning at 9:30 a.m. The photo is scheduled for 10 a.m., and the group will disperse at 10:15.

SMUSA originally scheduled the photo to be taken during the University’s annual Staff Appreciation Day and President’s Picnic May 21, but rain forced the group to move the shoot to a new date.

Gerald Turner host the 2014 President’s Picnic 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

The traditional post-Commencement celebration features picnic food favorites and several prize contests. Food will be served 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. All SMU staff members are invited to attend.

The traditional post-Commencement celebration takes place 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, May 23, on the south lawn of Clements Hall. The festivities will include picnic food favorites and several prize contests. Food will be served 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

A little bit rock and roll: 2012 President’s Picnic is May 23

SMU Staff Association 2012 President's Picnic postcardFood, fun, tug-of-war…it’s that time of year again. The Staff Association and President R. Gerald Turner invite all SMU staff members to the 2012 Staff Appreciation Day and President’s Picnic.

The traditional post-Commencement celebration takes place 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, on the south lawn of Clements Hall.

In keeping with this year’s theme, “Country Rock and Roll,” staff members and departmental teams are encouraged to dress as their favorite music stars for the annual Spirit Contest. New attractions will include a photo booth and a bingo contest (first-come first-served and limited to 50 players per game).

The 2012 menu includes hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as veggie burgers, Frito pie, corn on the cob, watermelon and other treats. Food will be served 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Team competitions include the Mummy Wrap and the hotly contested Tug-of-War. RSVP online to register your 3-person team for the Mummy Wrap (log in with your 8-digit ID and e-mail password and click the “Respond to this survey” link).

Pick-up volleyball, horseshoes and frisbee golf will be played throughout the picnic. No team registration is required for these games. The Candy Count is back as well, with three prizes available for those who most nearly guess the number of candies in the jar.

The 2011 Spirit Contest celebrates the SMU centennial as departmental teams dress to represent their favorite University decade. Other team competitions include the Mummy Wrap and Tug-of-War. RSVP online to register your department’s team for a competition and find a list of this year’s games.
