SMU varsity fourJunior marketing major Andrew Galloway, football, and senior business management and sociology major Jon Killen, men’s basketball, have been honored with 2008 “M” Awards, SMU’s highest honor for service to the University. For the second season in a row, the women’s golf team has been honored by the NCAA with a public recognition award for its latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate score. To be honored, a team must post a multi-year APR score in the top 10 percent of all squads in its sport. Read more.

The rowing team won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the Midwest Intercollegiate Rowing Championship April 26, 2008 in Omaha. The Mustangs placed second as a team after getting edged 94-93 by conference rival Tulsa. Read more.

The men’s tennis team received its highest national ranking of the season, No. 40, on April 28, 2008. The team will make its 11th trip of the past 12 seasons to the NCAA Tennis Championships May 10, facing regional rival Texas A&M (No. 25) at Baylor University in Waco.

Jon KillenTwo senior Mustang soccer players have been drafted to play professionally. Midfielder/forward Adrian Chevannes was drafted by the Colorado Rapids in the 2008 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, and midfielder Ben Shuleva (right) was drafted by FC Dallas in the 2008 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft. Senior guard Jon Killen (right) was named Conference USA Player of the Week in men’s basketball Jan. 28, 2008. The co-captain from Arlington, Texas, earns his first award and is the first Mustang since Bryan Hopkins in December 2005 to take the league honor. Read more.
