Jay Miller joins Student Media Company

John A. 'Jay' MillerJohn A. (Jay) Miller, a veteran journalist and student media manager, has joined Student Media Company Inc. as executive director/executive adviser. He succeeds Richard Lytle, who retired at the end of July after nearly 14 years as adviser to the student staffs of The Daily Campus, the Rotunda yearbook and SMU’s Directory of Students, Staff and Faculty.

Miller, who is the 7th director in the company’s 78-year history, previously served as director of student media and marketing at the University of Texas-Dallas and as a member of the news and editorial staff of The Dallas Morning News. He has directed publications and communications with the U.S. Figure Skating Association and USA Boxing in Colorado Springs, CO.

Throughout his undergraduate career at Texas Tech University, Miller was a reporter and editor on the student staff of its five-day-a-week newspaper, The University Daily (now The Daily Toreador).
