Senior guard Jon Killen (right) was named Conference USA Player of the Week in men’s basketball Jan. 28, 2008. The co-captain from Arlington, Texas, earns his first award and is the first Mustang since Bryan Hopkins in December 2005 to take the league honor. Read more.

Three members of the men’s soccer team are among the 54 college seniors who have been invited to take part in the Major League Soccer Combine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jan. 11-15. Senior defender Adrian Chevannes (right), senior goalkeeper Steve Sandbo and senior midfielder Ben Shuleva have been invited to show their skills in preparation for the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. Silje FjortoftThree players on the women’s soccer team have received All-Conference recognition from Conference USA. Senior forward/midfielder Kimber Bailey and junior defender Carley Phillips were named second-team All-Conference; forward Lauren Shepherd was named to the conference All-Freshman team. Read more.

Meanwhile, in men’s soccer, junior forward Scott Geppert, senior goalkeeper Steve Sandbo and senior midfielder Ben Shuleva have been named to the Conference USA All-Academic team. Read more.
