Sports: The start of the 2013-14 season

Volleyball hosts SMU Classic: SMU volleyball has had a steady start to their season, sitting 2-2 after a loss to Baylor Tuesday night. On Sept. 6-7, 2013, the Mustangs will host the SMU Classic with matches against Grambling State and Davidson on Friday at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sam Houston State on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. All matches are free at the Dedman Center while Moody Coliseum is under construction.

Fall Soccer 

  • Men’s: The Mustangs will travel to Oklahoma this weekend for the Tulsa Tournament. They will face SIUE on Friday, Sept. 6 at 5 p.m. and Ohio State on Sunday, Sept. 8 at noon. The men are 0-2 for the season but Head Coach Tim McClements was happy overall with the team’s performance at the IU Credit Union Classic. “I think we responded well and learned a lot about ourselves as a young team.” (SMU Athletics)
  • Women’s: The Mustangs are off to the Carolinas this weekend for games against Davidson  Friday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. and South Carolina Sunday, Sept. 8 at noon. Since beginning the season in August, Head Coach Chris Petrucelli has become the 16th coach in NCAA history to reach 350 career wins.

GameDay Central: The football season opener was held Aug. 30, 2013 and had the 3rd largest crowd in Ford Stadium history at 34,790 attendants. The first quarter ended in a tie but Tech continued to pull ahead and defeated the Mustangs 41-23. The Mustangs will play at home again on Saturday, Sept. 7 against Montana State at 7 p.m.
