A Celebration of Ethics: SMU’s Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics and Public Responsibility invites you to celebration honoring the career and contributions of Robin Lovin, SMU Maguire Professor of Ethics. Special remarks will be made by President R. Gerald Turner, the Office of Provost, and SMU professors. Technology and disaster: On Thursday, Jan. 24, Dr. Jason McKenna will present a lecture on how evolving technology can help with natural disasters prevention and relief plans. McKenna is a past professor of Geophysics, Geology and GIS at SMU and is currently the Lead Technical Director for Geospatial Research & Engineering at the U.S. Army’s Engineer Research and Development Center. The lecture is hosted by The Hunt Institute for Engineering and Humanity, whose mission is “to shift the foundation of poverty through action and empowerment.” Dr. McKenna will speak at 2:30 p.m. in the Vester Hughes Auditorium, Caruth Hall. Sharp Show: The annual dance senior showcase will be held on Jan. 25-27, 2013. Seniors graduating from the Meadows Dance program create a unique showcase highlighting their choreography, dance and artistic skills. Performances in ballet, modern, jazz, and more all take place during this unforgettable night. The Sharp Show starts at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday in room B100 of the Owen Arts Center. Admission is free but seats fill up quickly!
