Sports: Homecoming Weekend 2012

Season Finale: SMU women’s soccer will travel to Tulsa Friday, Oct. 26, to play their last game of the 2012 regular season at 7 p.m. They are 23-3-2 all-time against the Golden Hurricane. Based on how the Mustangs and other Conference USA teams perform this weekend, their final ranking for the Conference USA Tournament will be decided. The Mustangs are currently 8-6-4 for the season and can enter the tournament as high as 4th or as low as 7th (out of 8 teams).

Men’s Tennis: The men’s tennis team is traveling to College Station for the 2012 Conference Challenge. The Mustangs have an overall record of 9-12 for the season and conference challenge play will be Oct. 26-28.

Homecoming for the Holidays: SMU’s 2012 Homecoming football game is Saturday, Oct. 27. SMU is 40-41-3 all-time in homecoming games, and the Mustangs will take on Memphis in the second of three games against future Big East opponents. Junior Kevin Pope enters the game as the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the week for his work in the Houston game, which included the first TD of his career. The kick-off Saturday is at 2 p.m., and the game includes a halftime presentation of the 2012 SMU Homecoming King and Queen.

Senior Day: SMU men’s soccer takes on Marshall Sunday, Oct. 28. The Mustangs finished their last game with a tie in double overtime against Missouri State and are 5-2-1 all-time against Marshall. The game Sunday is senior day and their will be a pre-game ceremony to honor the four senior men: Ben Hill, T.J. Nelson, Juan Robles and Ryan Rosenbaum. The game starts at noon at Westcott Field.

Looking Ahead: SMU’s women’s cross country team will travel to Mississippi for the Conference USA Championship Monday, Oct. 29.
