Sports: Mustangs on the road Oct. 5-7, 2012

Soccer hopes to continue winning streak: Men’s soccer will play at home Saturday, Oct. 6. The Mustangs will take on Kentucky after defeating Tulsa on Wednesday night 1-0. They go into Wednesday’s game with a 7-2-2 season record. The game is at Westcott Field at 7 p.m., and anyone who is a fan of SMU Men’s Soccer on Facebook can print a coupon for free admission.

Weekends away: This weekend the majority of SMU sports teams are traveling. Below is a rundown of their schedules and stats:

Equestrian: Match against TCU at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. The Mustangs go into Friday 3-0, putting them at their best season start in history.

Women’s Tennis: In Houston for the weekend at the Rice Invitational, Oct. 5-7, 2012. Senior Aleksandra Malyarchikova was recently named September’s Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Month

Volleyball:

  • Match vs. UCF in Orlando at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. They are 7-3 all time against UCF.
  • Match vs. Southern Miss in Hattiesburg at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. They stand 5-3 against Southern Miss.

Women’s Soccer:

  • Game vs. Southern Miss in Hattiesburg at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5.
  • Game vs. UCF in Orlando at noon Sunday, Oct. 7.
  • The Mustangs enter the weekend with a 5-5-2 season record

Football: Game against UTEP in El Paso at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. The last time the Mustangs faced the Miners, they were victorious with a final score of 28-17. The game Saturday will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable Sports Channel.

Women’s Swimming: Razorback Relays meet in Fayetteville at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6.
