Make a gift by Dec. 31, 2011, get a tax deduction (and a pony)

Red PerunaDon’t forget to make your gift to SMU’s Campaign for Faculty and Staff by New Year’s Eve – and join nearly 1,100 faculty and staff members who have already shown their support of the University by making a gift this academic year. The IRS deadline is Dec. 31 for making charitable donations that are tax-deductible for 2011.

Thirteen of the campaign’s 15 areas are seeking progress toward their participation targets before the tax year ends. The Offices of the President and Legal Affairs have met their goals of 100% participation. Visit the Faculty and Staff giving site to see the progress each school and division has made toward their 2011-12 donor goals.

Donors may choose the school, department or program that will benefit from their contribution, and gifts to the President’s Partners program count toward The Second Century Campaign goals. You’ll also get a pony – a running red Peruna with your name on it, as well as your name listed on the Faculty/Staff Donors page.

Sample paver for the SMU Centennial PlazaIn addition, SMU faculty and staff members can make their mark on campus – literally – with a gift this year to the Second Century Campaign. Each individual who makes a gift of $100 in honor of the University’s centennial will be recognized with an engraved paver placed in the Centennial Promenade – part of the new Turner Centennial Quadrangle to be constructed for the 100th anniversary of SMU’s opening in 2015.
