SMU Boulevard and sidewalks on both sides of the street will close for construction beginning Jan. 3, 2011. The areas will be closed until summer 2011. Details were distributed to the University community in the following e-mail dated Dec. 17, 2010:

Construction activities require the closing of SMU Boulevard (indicated in red on the map below) to vehicular and pedestrian traffic from Dublin Street to the southbound access road of North Central Expressway from Jan. 3, 2011, through late summer. This closure also will include the sidewalks on both sides of the street.

There will be a sidewalk connection from the intersection of North Central and SMU Boulevard to Dyer Street for all pedestrian traffic going to and from East Campus.

The closing will require a temporary rerouting for the Mustang Express. A map of the temporary route is being developed by Park N’ Pony and will be available before Jan. 3. A temporary stop will be placed at University Boulevard and Airline Road.

More details will be provided as the project progresses. The University apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
