Dedman College dean candidates to visit week of Feb. 22

Dallas HallThe fifth finalist for the position of Dean of Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences is visiting the campus for interviews and meetings during the week of Feb. 22, 2010.

Jacqueline Dixon – professor of geological sciences, senior associate dean and acting interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami – will participate in a Faculty/Staff Forum 4-5:15 p.m. Feb. 22 in McCord Auditorium, 306 Dallas Hall.

In addition, Richard Jensen, professor of economics at Notre Dame, will revisit the Hilltop this week to complete a schedule curtailed by the record snowfall of Feb. 11-12. His Faculty/Staff Forum is scheduled for 3-4:15 p.m. Feb. 26 in McCord Auditorium.

Three other finalists visited during the weeks of Feb. 8 and Feb. 15:

  • William Tsutsui, professor of history, associate dean for international studies and director of the Kansas Consortium for Teaching About Asia, Center for East Asian Studies, in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, University of Kansas
  • Caroline Levander, professor of English, Carlson Chair in the Humanities, and director of the Humanities Research Center, Rice University
  • Ronald Irving, professor of mathematics and former interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, University of Washington
