Center Mitch Enright (left) has received the 2009 Anson Mount Scholar/Athlete Award as a member of the 53rd annual Playboy Preseason All-America football team. The award has been given annually since 1987 to the nation’s premier football student-athlete. The first Mustang to win the honor, Enright will receive a medallion, and Playboy will present SMU with $5,000 for the University’s general scholarship fund in his honor.
Enright graduated in three years with a B.B.A. degree in management and a 3.99 G.P.A. from SMU’s Cox School of Business. He is in his second year of Cox M.B.A. studies in marketing and strategic leadership. He is a two-time member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Football Team and a Conference USA Academic Medal winner. SMU golfers Max Buckley, Marc Sambol and Aaron Stewart qualified for the 2009 U.S. Amateur, now in progress through Aug. 30 at Southern Hills Country Club and Cedar Ridge Country Club in Tulsa. Former Mustangs Colt Knost and Hank Kuehne won the U.S. Amateur Championship in 2007 and 1998, respectively. Read more.
