Libraries invite users to trade ‘Food for Fines’

CUL Food for Fines logoIn the spirit of holiday sharing, Central University Libraries has begun its 2008 Food for Fines drive. The Libraries will waive fines for SMU faculty, staff and students in exchange for food donations for the North Texas Food Bank.

Every donation of a can or package of non-perishable food equals a $2 credit toward outstanding library fines. The waiver applies to materials from Fondren Library Center, Hamon Arts Library, and the ISEM Reading Room.

Waiver credits do not apply to lost book replacement charges or processing fees. The credit may only be used against current overdue book fines (no future credit will be applied). Overdue fines may not be waived if they have already been sent to the Cashier’s Office for collection.

Bring food donations to any of these libraries through Dec. 15.
