Benefits U logoTime is running out to change your health care options for the coming year: SMU’s Open Enrollment period for 2009 ends at 5 p.m. Oct. 31, 2008.

No action is required for faculty and staff members who don’t want to make any changes for 2009. Those who wish to have a Health Care or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or a Health Savings Account (if enrolled in the $2,500-deductible Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas PPO), must make a new election for 2009 through Access.SMU Benefits Open Enrollment – even those who want to contribute the same amount they elected for 2008.

Last-minute changes will be easier to make this year thanks to online open enrollment through Access.SMU. To change your options on the web, enter your Access.SMU user ID and password as you would to review your pay statement. Under Benefits on the right, click Benefits Open Enrollment to find your personalized Open Enrollment record.

Important: Faculty and staff members who wish to enroll a spouse or dependent child who has never been enrolled in an SMU benefits plan must make all elections on the 2009 Open Enrollment paper form. Find more information on how to proceed.

Human Resources also offers guidance through face-to-face meetings with Benefits Department representatives. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact the Department of Human Resources, 8-3311.
