Hot Links: SMU Volleyball to ‘Dig Pink’ for breast cancer

SMU volleyball teamThe Mustang volleyball team (left) will host a Dig Pink event to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer during its Nov. 2, 2008 match against Rice. Fans will receive free rally towels and cheer cards upon entrance, and those who wear pink will receive 50 percent off admission. The game begins at 1 p.m. in Moody Coliseum and is sponsored by Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Read more.

The women’s soccer team has clinched a berth in the 2008 Conference USA Championship with one regular-season game still remaining, the C-USA office announced Oct. 27. The tournament will be held Nov. 5-9 at Rice Soccer Stadium in Houston. Read more.

In men’s soccer, junior goalkeeper Craig Hill was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 27, 2008 after posting a pair of shutouts at the University of Alabama and the University of Central Florida. Hill collected five saves against the Blazers Oct. 22 in Birmingham and eight against the Knights in Orlando Oct. 25 to raise his season total to 56. Read more.
