The men’s soccer team jumped several places in two national polls after defeating Old Dominion and Virginia to win the University of Virginia Classic over Labor Day weekend. The Mustangs jump from No. 17 to No. 7 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll and from No. 12 to No. 6 in the CollegeSoccerNews.com poll. Senior sociology major DeMyron Martin has been named a candidate for the 2008 Doak Walker Award, presented annually to the nation’s top college running back. This is Martin’s second consecutive nomination for the honor – the only major collegiate award that requires all candidates to be in good academic standing and on schedule to graduate within one year of other students of the same classification. Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Doherty (left) will be a guest coach in the inaugural Chairmen of the Boards Charity Basketball Tournament Sept. 7 at Hunter College, New York City.
