Put your budget on notice: The U.S. Postal Service will increase its first-class stamp price for letters weighing 1 ounce or less from 41 cents to 42 cents on May 12, 2008. A list of new prices:

• First-class mail letter (1 oz.) - 42 cents
• First-class mail letter (2 oz.) - 59 cents
• Postcard - 27 cents
• First-class mail large envelope (2 oz.) - $1
• Certified mail - $2.70
