SMU gets an “A” in safety preparedness

Reader’s Digest announced Feb. 7 that SMU scores an “A” for campus safety preparedness. The magazine ranked the University as the 16th safest college in the United States and the safest private university in Texas among the universities surveyed.

A total of 135 universities participated in the study, which analyzed measures ranging from dorm rooms with sprinkler systems to around-the-clock security and emergency plans. SMU was also classified in the “lower” category (out of lower, moderate, or higher) for reported crime rates.

More information and survey results are available at the Reader’s Digest website.
